The student will design and implement an Android and an iOS application that operates in two modes, allowing attendance evidence and management.
The application will consist of two parts:
- tablet reader,
- mobile application
Those will communicate with the existing attendance management system Alveno using its REST API.
The tablet mode for company-wide use will allow:
- pairing the application with an Alveno instance using either a QR code generated by Alveno or by entering a pairing code manually,
- employees will be able to log their attendance and verify their identity using their generated PIN codes,
- employees and supervisors can generate new random PIN codes, avoiding easily guessable combinations like '123456',
- administrators can modify interface buttons, manage allowed employees, rename the reader, or deactivate it through the Alveno web application,
- attendance and project tracking data are synchronized with the server,
- employees can monitor the progress of their projects,
- the app shows employees their monthly balance, upcoming vacations, and other vacation details,
- administrators should be able to disable the reader, view unsynchronized attendance and project records, or pin the application to the tablet's screen,
- attendance and project records will be queued when the reader is offline, and data will be synchronized once an internet connection is available.
2. Mobile client for individual employees should allow:
- employees to log in using their credentials,
- displays details like remaining vacation days, balance, and previous attendance, possibly using graphical representations,
- employers to track employee attendance and project involvement, including GPS location at the time of attendance entry,
- employees to view their previous attendance records and add notes,
- to show timesheets with daily balances, to indicate whether attendance entries are valid, to allow to add notes for each day, and to enable employees to confirm their timesheets for the month,
- employees to request absences, to list them, and to view them in a calendar,
- supervisors to filter, to accept, or to reject employee requests,
- to show employees their work plans,
- to display time spent on projects, with options to filter the time spent by date or client and present the data in a donut chart,
- employees to set a custom PIN code and use biometric security for faster access,
- employees to set a preferred initial tab when launching the application,
- to provide alerts for actions like returning the timesheets or approval of exceptions, consistent with the Notification Centre in the Alveno web applications.
The mobile and tablet application will be developed using React Native, and Alveno will communicate with them via REST API.
The thesis should include:
- analysis and design of applications using UML diagrams like use-case diagram, sequence diagrams,...,
- description of the application's structure,
- description of application deployment.
The source code samples and annotations will added in the electronic form. Links to the applications will be part of the thesis text.
