The thesis will focus on the design and implementation of a software tool that enables automatic synchronization of virtual machine (VM) images between an OCI-compliant container registry (Harbor) and the OpenStack Glance image service. The tool will ensure correct configuration and secure handling of access credentials for both APIs, detect changes in source images using versioning or cryptographic checksums, and update images in Glance accordingly. It will incorporate a caching system to optimize performance, provide robust logging and error handling, and support both manual and periodic execution modes. The outcome of the thesis will be a functional synchronization solution extending the capabilities of the existing Atrope tool, overcoming its limitations, and improving the management of VM images within federated cloud infrastructures such as the EGI Federation.
