Tato diplomová práce se zabývá genderovými a rasovými stereotypy v českých a švédských učebnicích angličtiny. Abstract

This thesis examines gender and racial stereotypes in the Czech and Swedish coursebooks of English. It aims to analyse the images of four EFL coursebooks in terms of gender and racial diversity as well as contrast the two countries’ approach to equal and inclusive distribution of these two categories. The main aim of this thesis is to identify and compare the representation of gender and racial stereotypes in Czech and Swedish coursebooks of English, in order to indicate how cultural and educational contexts influence the portrayal of social identities. Furthermore, this thesis aims to advocate for more inclusive, gender and racial sensitive coursebook design in English language education in the Czech environment.
