The Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 dramatically changed the existing geopolitical setting of the international system and endangered several decades-long peace prevailing in Europe. The countries of Central and Eastern Europe, which were part of the Soviet Union, were reminded of their own traumatising experience with the Russian super-power and, therefore, were forced to promote hard and coordinated actions against the Russian Federation. Amongst the loudest critics and, at the same time, the biggest supporters of Ukraine, belonged despite its size Estonia, whose prime minister, Kaja Kallas, is sometimes described as the new Iron Lady. The main aim of the thesis is on the case of Estonia and, through the means of narrative analysis, to demonstrate that in the times of Russian aggression, Estonia contradicts the assumptions of small state behaviour and, therefore, questions the relevance of categorisation of small states.
