This thesis will focus on the Czechoslovak soldiers who had decided to fight for their nazi-oppressed country from abroad. The path towards the final formation of the Czechoslovak foreign resistance had been nothing but intricate; yet, eventually, due to the relentless effort of capable individuals, several Czechoslovak army units were established on the British Isles and in North-East Africa. At the end of World War II, the Czechoslovak Armoured Brigade even besieged the French city of Dunkirk for several months. However, none of these units would exist without the continuous support of the British Army, which ultimately provided our soldiers with all the necessary equipment and facilities. Thus, regarding the theoretical part, the thesis' main objective is to track the development of the Western Czechoslovak resistance not only from the point of view of international politics; yet also from the perspective of a common soldier who fought for the freedom of Czechoslovakia in miscellaneous environments. Once the theory is processed, the knowledge will be applied for the analyses of the Czech movies Tobruk (2008) and Dark Blue World (2001) which deal with the topic. The objective in this part of the thesis will be to examine the level of the historical accuracy of these pictures and assess their overall execution.
