The bachelor thesis will deal with relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union in the light of the decision of British people to leave this grouping of European countries. The outcome of the British referendum was for many people a big surprise. What were the main causes that led British people to think that to leave the EU is a better option? The main assumption of the thesis is that the UK has always been a very distinctive member of the EU and this trait could be partly responsible for the “leave” vote in the referendum. The main goal of this thesis will be to look at and analyse the history of the relations between the UK and the EU and to trace the main events and issues that could have had an impact on the Brexit decision.
