Automated end-to-end user interface (E2E) testing has become essential to the software development life cycle. It involves running software tests to ensure the user interface functions as expected. UI testing is particularly important as it helps to catch visual and functional bugs before the end-users encounter them.

The use of automation in E2E testing allows developers to save time and increase efficiency. Playwright, an open-source Node.js library developed by Microsoft, has become a popular choice for UI test automation due to its powerful capabilities and ease of use.

Lumeer is an open-source project management tool that allows teams to plan, track, and visually manage their projects. It provides a user-friendly interface for organizing tasks, timelines, resources, and deliverables and is designed to be flexible enough to adapt to the needs of different teams and workflows.

However, the UI of Lumeer is very vaguely covered with proper tests, frequently leading to user issues after updates. This diploma thesis aims to add automation in E2E testing to the Lumeer.

The student is supposed to:

1. Analyze PlayWright testing tool and its suitability for automation in E2E testing.
2. Analyze and suggest a roadmap of E2E test cases to be developed (based on customer happy paths).
3. Prepare the environment for E2E testing using PlayWright in Lumeer project.
4. Design and implement a test suite of at least 20 tests based on PlayWright for easy E2E test development.
5. Automate the execution of those tests using GitHub Actions.

The test cases will be part of the open-source repository of Lumeer.
