A Multiple-Parallel-Text Approach to Biblical Translation. A Case Study of Galatians in English, Czech and Slovak

Anotace

Tato práce představuje lingvistickou analýzu vybrané biblické knihy z pohledu kognitivní lingvistiky a kognitivní gramatiky. Soustřeďuje se na rozdíly mezi šesti přeloženými verzemi stejné knihy z Bible, konkrétně epištoly Galatským. Práce se soustřeďuje na perikopy a nadpisy, přičemž byl kladen důraz na vliv nadpisů na čtenáře.

Abstract

This thesis presents a linguistic analysis of the selected biblical text from the perspective of Cognitive Linguistics and Cognitive Grammar. The methodology of Multiple-Parallel-Texts was used to analyse the data from the book of Galatians. Zadání práce
This thesis will present a linguistic analysis of the selected biblical text from the perspective of Cognitive Linguistics and Cognitive Grammar. It will concentrate on the differences between 6 translated versions of the same book from the Bible, namely the Epistle to the Galatians, using the Multiple-Parallel-Text Approach. The main theoretical concepts observed in the text will be the notion of Construal and the distribution of attention.
