Abstract
In the 2016 referendum on the United Kingdom’s membership in the Eu-ropean Union, the Remain campaign was notoriously labelled as the Pro-ject fear by its opponents and in media coverage, meaning that the Re-mainers were using predominantly negative arguments about the conse-quences of leaving the EU as their main strategy.
