CONTENT TO BACHELOR THESIS 1. Definition of the key issues At first I will study history, symbols and customs of Christmas and Easter in the Great Britain and United States in common and subsequently I will focus on regional differences in Britain and later in the United States. I will try to investigate how these regional differences came into existence and why are certain symbols or customs important and significant in some region and in another not. 2. Setting of the goals The main goal of my thesis is to depict Christmas and Easter in common, compare the regional varieties of the celebration and elicit how the differences in symbols and customs originated. 3. Thesis procedure At first it is necessary to look through the available literature on the given topic and choose the most appropriate sources and on its basis compile theoretical material. I will work with the books which I find in libraries or University libraries in Brno and use the quality sources on the Internet. Then I will deal with the description of differences within regions in the Great Britain and United States and in the end I will process the obtained information. 4. Expected application The results of my bachelor thesis should serve as useful material for students of English that might help them to create a general knowledge about the main differences in celebrating Christmas and Easter in the GB an US.
