Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with an overview of securities regulation, its functions and economic effect. The course is taught on a security-by-security basis with emphasis on stocks, bonds and notes. However, the explanation also includes basic information on capital market trading and the specific impact of a security's listing

Syllabus
  • Securities and book-entry securities - nature, function, importance in practice, electronic securities
  • Investment in securities, book-entry of CP, issue of CP, trading with CP
  • Bills of exchange - parties to the bill of exchange, particulars - disputable issues, signing of bills of exchange and falsification of the text
  • Bill of Exchange in Blank
  • Exercise of bills of exchange rights
  • Aval; Significance of presentation of promissory note and protest for non-payment
  • Transfers of securities
  • Participatory CP
  • Bonds and certificates
  • Remuneration tools with special reference to securities
  • Sealing and sell-out
  • Collective investing
  • Regulated market issuer, insider trading and capital market manipulation

Teaching methods
Emphasis is placed on teaching in seminars, which involves more demanding preparation and the use of alternative resources.
Assessment methods
Access to the exam is conditional on active participation in the seminar lessons. The exam is written with a simple A/N test.
