Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to explain and to practice basic morphological and syntactic phenomena of the normative grammar. Special attention is given to practical proficiency geared primarily toward reading comprehension of elementary Latin texts. Upon completion of this course students will be able to read and analyze elementary Latin texts from both grammatical and semantic point .
Syllabus
  • Morphology: present subjunctive mood;
  • comparison of adjectives and adverbs;
  • numerals
  • perfect system of verbs;
  • demonstrative, relative and interrogative pronouns;
  • irregular verbs.
  • Syntax: indicative subordinate clauses (time);
  • indicative subordinate clauses (relative);
  • direct questions.
