Course objectives
Student will be able to define basic nursing care of patients with diseases of the blood circulation, respiratory system, urinary tract and kidneys, disorders of metabolism, endocrine glands, digestive system and other selected internal diagnoses. The student will be able to describe the assessment techniques and objectification scales used in nursing. The student acquires practical skills in injection (s.c, i.m, i.v.) and ensuring peripheral venous entry. The student practices the manipulation and positioning of the patient. Student will be able to explain the care of patients with CVC, PICC and ports.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: - use professional terminology related to nursing care of a patient in the internal field; - define basic nursing care for patients with diseases of the blood circulation, respiratory system, urinary tract and kidneys, metabolic disorders, endocrine glands, digestive system and other selected internal diagnoses; - describe the assessment techniques and objectification scales used in nursing.

  • The Characteristic of Internal medicide branch. • The Nursing process, itś application in the all phases, Nursing documentation. • The General symptomatology and epidemiology. • The Nursing Process to the patient with Blood circulation diseases. • The Nursing Process to the patient with Respiratory diseases. • The Nursing Process to the patient with Urinary system and kidneys disease. • The Nursing Process to the patient with Metabolism disease and Diabetes mellitus. • The Nursing Process to the patient with Digestive system disease. • The Nursing Process to the patient with Haemopoesis diseases. • The Nursing Process to the patient with Locomotive system diseases. • The Nursing Process to the patient with Infectional diseases. • Emergency situations in internal medicine. • The Nursing Process to the patient with Alegy diseases. The training of peripheral venous catheter insertation, intravenous medicament application. The training of manipulation and human body position setting - at the skill labs of Department of Nursing.

Theoretical preparation (lectures - PP presentations, discussions, group work), practice skills training.
Assessment methods
The course is finished by credit. The granting of the credit is conditional upon: - 100% attendance (excused absence in the MU information system 1x/semester ie 2 lessons); - demonstration of practical skills during the semester; - presentation of the student on selected topics related to internal issues; - credit test (at least 75% of the theoretical knowledge).
