- The aim of the course is to introduce the main ideas of philosophy of history from the classical Antiquity to the present time. The main attention is paid to the big system of philosophy of history in 18th and 19th centuries. After completing the course, students will be able to enumerate the main movements and their representatives. Further, they will be able to present the most influential concepts and to explain their justification, motivation and deficiencies.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, a student will be able to present the main theories that emerged in the history of philosophy of history and to explain their main ideas; a student understands the importance of philosophy of history and will be able to critically consider their ideological dangers.

- After completing the course the students will be able to present the conception of social philosophy and philosophy of history from the second half of the 19th century until present and place particular works into the social and cultural contexts of their formation, and to understand their variants in contemporary conceptions of society.

- Rozbor základních směrů z oblasti filozoie dějin a společnosti 19. a 20. století. (Viz osnova.) Součástí kurzu bude i podrobnější rozbor problémů a pojmů jako je "pokrok", "liberalismus", "demokracie", "vztah přírodního a společenského v člověku a kultuře" apod.

- 4. Strukturalistické pojetí dějin a člověka
- 5. Dějiny ve škole Annales
- 6. Novotomistické chápání dějin a společnosti
- 7. Pojetí dějin, člověka a společnosti v ekologické filozofii
- 8. Dějiny z hlediska teorie postindustriální společnosti (Bell, Toffler)
- 9. Liberalismus v dějinách a současnosti (Hayek)
- 10. Možná schémata dějinného vývoje a obnovení víry v pokrok (Fukuyama)
- 11. Součástí kursu bude i probírání systematických pojmů a problémů jako je revoluce a evoluce, příroda a člověk apod.

- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce the main ideas of philosophy of history from the classical Antiquity to the present time. The main attention is paid to the big system of philosophy of history in 18th and 19th centuries. After completing the course, students will be able to enumerate the main movements and their representatives. Further, they will be able to present the most influential concepts and to explain their justification, motivation and deficiencies.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, a student will be able to present the main theories that emerged in the history of philosophy of history and to explain their main ideas; a student understands the importance of philosophy of history and will be able to critically consider their ideological dangers.
