- Abstract
- The course focuses on both theoretical and practical aspects of developing a destination through destination management. It is therefore a practical science of the management process implemented in the specific conditions of a destination, which is made up of tourism stakeholders, e.g. entrepreneurs, municipalities, local residents. Great emphasis is placed on cooperation. This is also the focus of the practical skills that students will acquire upon completing the course. The aim of the course is to transform knowledge about destination management into the ability to apply it in practice.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course, students will be able to: - define key terms from the terminology of destination management; - apply knowledge of destination management in practice; - analyze key data about the destination from an internal and external perspective; - compile a SWOT matrix for the destination; - develop a development strategy. Students will also gain competencies in the areas of teamwork, time management and, last but not least, self-presentation.

- Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
- The main approach is project-based teaching based on team cooperation. Experts from practice are also involved in the teaching.
The grant of 5 ECTS (125 hours) includes: 36 hours of direct teaching (seminars); 15 hours of self-study - preparation for self-correction tests; 64 hours of team cooperation - project preparation; 9 hours of exam preparation; 1 hour of oral exam. - Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
- Theoretical knowledge is verified during the semester in the form of self-correction tests with closed questions, ABCD variants. The points obtained from the tests are included in the overall assessment and constitute 30% of the grade.
The student's practical skills, i.e., the ability to analyze data and develop a strategy, are tested in the form of a teamwork project, the evaluation of which constitutes 70% of the grade. The process of project preparation is controlled during the semester, i.e., the student receives feedback within the framework of a team consultation.
The exam takes the form of an oral defense/presentation of a seminar project.
The student has the opportunity to earn additional points during the semester, which (s)he can use to improve her/his overall grade in the course (e.g., for activity in seminars). More detailed information is provided in the first session and is available in the IS in the study materials/interactive syllabus. - Alternate completion
- There are no attendance requirements for Erasmus students.
The exam is oral and tests both theoretical and practical knowledge. The list of exam questions is published in the IS during the semester. - Language of instruction
