Course objectives
Insurance Market (PFPOTR) The course builds on and enhances the knowledge from the previous courses Insurance Industry and Insurance Economics. It aims to explain and introduce the insurance market as a part of the financial market. The insurance market is defined by its tasks, specifics and principles, including the division, structure and tools of its functioning. The course will explain the object of trade on the insurance market, its specific features and principles. The next part of the course will explain and clarify insurance companies' investment activity, their business activity, its forms, structure and instruments. Insurance supervision will also be mentioned. Segments and entities of the insurance market in the Czech Republic will be analysed here, along with the present occupancy of the insurance market by commercial insurance companies and indicators to assess their performance. Preparedness of the Czech insurance market to enter the single insurance market of the EU will be outlined. Examination: the exam is combined - it consists of an obligatory written part and an optional oral part.
