Course objectives
Applied Statistics I (KVASTI) The course s mission is to introduce students to the study of statistical sets and their indices. Students will learn about the problems of description and the basic characteristics of sample statistical sets, principals of the theories of probability and random variables. The cardinal part of the course is a section dealing with the quantitative description of some processes and dependences. The course focuses on an introduction to the study of regression and correlation analysis with emphasis placed on linear regression. To explore the chronologically observed indicators, the course also presents introduction to the study of time series and comparative indices. All these sections are illustrated by examples using particular statistical indicators of the Czech Republic s economic development. Examination: written and oral.
