The course is designed for Master’s students in the daily study programme in the Public Economy and Administration and Management in Culture fields of study. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives
- The course has a specializing character. Its concept is based on the presumption that students have already acquired the knowledge of the subject matter in courses Theory of the Public Sector, Economics of the Public Sector and Economics of Non-profit Organizations. Lectures focus on general topics related to cultural policy, while the structure of seminars enables students to get to know individual instruments and institutions of cultural policy in practice. In analyzing instruments and instutions of cultural policy, the accent is put on the following:
- to interprete the context of social policy
- to be aware of different models of cultural policy and types of cultural activities, their institutions and organisational framework
- to analyze managerial characteristics and identify problems of cultural organizations and argue possible sollutions. - Syllabus

- 1.Introduction to the course, role of cultural policy.
- 2.Cultural values and their evaluation.
- 3.Cultural policy, its reforms and transformation of cultural organizations in the Czech Republic.
- 4.Financing cultural activities.
- 5.Culture heritage and care of historical monuments in the Czech Republic.
- 6.Professional art – musical, graphic, literary and dramatic art.
- 7.Publishing markets, copyright law in practice.
- 8.Mass culture. Causes of its development, its position in contemporary society. Ways of mass culture financing and its perspectives. Public and private operators.
- 9.Mass media – television, radio, internet. Media manipulation.
- 10.The future of public media.

- Lectures, class discusion, presentations by professionals in the sectors, homeworks
- Assessment methods
- The successful completion of the course involves a written test (at least 55%), a written seminar paper (as part of oral exam) and oral exam. Important information! If students commit a prohibited act, such as using various forbidden tools, cribbing, taking out any part of the exam or any other cheating, the teacher is allowed to interrupt an exam and to grade a student with F, FF or FFF according to the seriousness of the offence. The mentioned procedure relates to all the activities that are included in the final evaluation of the course (seminar work, essays, tests etc.). Requirements (including the literature) are specified further in the interactive syllabus and the downloadable study plan before the semester starts.

General note: Nezapisují si studenti, kteří absolvovali předmět PVEKMA. Předmět nebude v daném semestru vypsán, pokus se nezapíše min. 15 studentů.
