- Course objectives
- Sociology for Economists (in short PVSOCI) The course provides acquaintance with sociology as a science, which explores the structure and dynamic development of the modern society. It also leads to a deeper understanding of the structure of society itself and its dynamics. Stress is placed on improving skills how to analyse social phenomena, situations and relations and, at the same time, draw certain conclusions for the specialisation that they study. A part of its general objective is the cultivation of the ability to see extraeconomic social aspects of economic phenomena and processes. The course is designed for the students who want to use the opportunity of learning not only theory but also principal methodological procedures of empirical study in sociology. Students are encouraged to try out individual elementary application of basic research procedures. In presenting the appropriate topics, it is important to exploit not only personal experience and interest of the students but also associations with other subjects. Credit requirements: Active participation in seminars, presented paper and completion of a research project. Examination: written test.
