Course objectives
Fundamentals of Social Policy (ZASP) The aim of the course is to enable students to understand the importance of social policy in the context of social risks and problems arising as a result of contradictory economic, social and cultural development of a modern society. The course provides information on: (1) main theoretical and ideological attitudes to social policy and the definition of social needs and problems, (2) basic sources and producers of social policy and services with emphasis on the interpretation of the role of welfare state, (3) some present-day social problems (unemployment and poverty, aging, family problems, cruelty and negligent care of children, social pathology, issues of ethnic minorities, opinion orientation in pluralistic society). This basic course is continued at Stage Two with the course Social Policy, which has a vocational character. Credit requirements: seminar paper. Examination: basic knowledge test, oral examination.

To access final exam an reviewed seminar work is needed (reviewed by tutor). Final exam is written test.
