Course objectives
At the end of this course a graduate will be able to: - identify personal and family finances - characterize different types of loans, ways of saving, investment and risk management, insurance products and system of payment products - clarify the tax aspects of personal and family finances - describe financial planning and its stages - compare ownership, cooperative and rental housing - clarify the issue of execution.
Syllabus
  • 1) Personal and family finances (revenues and expenditures of individuals and families, personal and family assets, interest running, inflation and defence against it, the value of money over time, etc.) 2) Financial, capital and money markets. Investment portfolio, its formation and management. 3) Loans (consumer loans, mortgage loans, hired purchase, credit cards, leasing, etc.) 4) Saving (time accounts, savings accounts, building savings, pensions, etc.) 5) Investments (active and passive investment, shares, bonds, shares, index products, etc.) 6) Investments, savings and taxes 7) Risk and to insurance against it 8) Insurance (travel, accident, pension, health and life insurance, third party liability, accident insurance, liability insurance, default insurance, insurance against illness, etc.) 9) System of payments. Electronic banking. 10) Housing (own housing funding, advantages and disadvantages of ownership, cooperative and rental housing, insurance and taxes) 11) Personal and family goals and their planning (personal and family goals, when begin to plan family finance, formation and implementation of personal and family financial plan) 12) Execution (under what circumstances may be imposed, on what and whom may be imposed, how it runs, how to defend against it, rights of a borrower, lender and executor, what to do in case of unqualified execution, etc.) 13) Personal and family finances in the Czech Republic and in the world

Teaching methods
lectures, seminars - processing and presentation of a seminar project, class discussion, example solution
Assessment methods
The check tests will be written in seminars during the 7th and the 12th week of semester. For each test up to 50 points can be obtained (a total of 100 points). Processing, submission and the presentation of a seminar project will be assessed as passed or failed. Requirements for admission to the test: - obtaining at least 60 points from the check tests (therefore 60% success rate) - seminar work assessment as „passed“. The course is successfully completed with a written test. If a student frauds during the test (copying, the participation of other persons on the test), he may be granted classification F.
