Course objectives
This lecture provides basic orientation in the field of information technology and the principles of building computer systems. The lecture targets students that do not specialize as computer science professionals but need to get sufficient overview of the subject to be able to use information technology in other fields. The lecture presents an introduction to computer architectures, operation systems, computer networks, applications, but also about security that is becoming increasingly important and non-negligible component of the modern computer system's design. The lecture will focus on the use of IT in different areas. Last part of the lecture focuses on the impact of IT to the whole society and will also discuss some ethical problems related to its use.
Graduate will be able to orient in basics of the computer systems.
Graduate will also be able to understand behavior of simple systems and explain them from the user point of view.
