Abstract
The subject aims to inform students about pedagogical and communication competencies and their importance for professional work with athletes and other clients. Students will have the opportunity to practically verify and develop their pedagogical and communication competencies (e.g. establishing contact, maintaining and developing a relationship, providing social support and feedback, asking questions, empathically evaluating, communicating in a narrower and broader professional community, using self-reflection and other forms professional development) within the seminars.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to
- describe the concept of pedagogical and communication competencies and their importance in the work of a sports expert;
- identify the primary forms of verbal and non-verbal communication and their specifics in professional contact with athletes and clients;
- distinguish effective and humanistically oriented communication from ethically and formally inappropriate behaviour;
- analyze problems associated with communication errors (e.g. in connection with the halo effect);
- interpret concrete possibilities for own professional development;
- propose adequate communication procedures within the first and subsequent meetings with the athlete, client and other interested persons (e.g. parents, teachers, other coaches, ...)
