- The objective of this course is to introduce students into circus methods and techniques that are often used in youth or social circus areas. Through circus skills, physical, mental as well as social area may be strenghtened.
Different circus skills and props will be presented through practical activites and games, with necessary theoretical background. The students will get in touch and train disciplines such as partner acrobatics, aerial acrobatics, object manipulation (juggling), balance and others. Through those they will also learn body coordination, risk analysis, individual and team safety.
Students will also understand additional topics, such as effective communication and cooperation, overcoming obstacles, coping with failure or providing self/feedback and self/evaluation.
This course is based on The European Core Curriculum for Youth and Social Circus Pedagogy that was implemented as an outcome of Circus+ project in 2016 and Circus++ project in 2022.
- Learning outcomes
- After completion of this course students will be able to:
- apply the acquired knowledge and circus skills-identify and analyse risks in the field of circus skills
- set up safety space for individual or group training - Key topics

-individual and team safety - Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching

-practical course in the gym (adequate comfortable sports clothes necessary) with necessary theoretical background - Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
- The credits will be assigned after successful completion of the course. In order to complete to course successfully two absences , out of 8 blocks, are allowed (one excused, one unexcused).
- Alternate completion
- In case of a cancelled lesson due to health or organisational reasons, there will be a possibility to attend an extra lesson in the 13th week of the semester.
