- Abstract
The aim of the course is to implement applied forms of outdoor recreation and nature‑based sports, and to provide hands‑on experience with diagnostic and therapeutic techniques within field-based practice in summer outdoor sport disciplines. The instruction is grounded in the principles of experiential education, which emphasizes direct experience, reflection, and the active engagement of students in real-life situations.
Students will, under professional supervision, conduct assessments of physically active clients, apply manual therapeutic techniques corresponding to their prior training, and simultaneously make use of methods such as:
- learning by doing – acquiring procedures in authentic outdoor environments;
- guided reflection – structured analysis of situations following activities through discussions, feedback, and self‑reflection techniques;
- cooperative and problem-based learning – solving model and authentic field situations;
- role‑play and simulation – practicing communication and decision-making in specific sport‑therapeutic scenarios;
- challenge-based learning – overcoming controlled challenges that foster professional growth, autonomy, and decision‑making competencies.
- Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- define the main types and forms of outdoor sports and the principles of experiential education for the implementation of outdoor training courses (LVK);
- demonstrate selected techniques and their practical applications;
- plan an outdoor (tourist) sports event and ensure the safety of participants during outdoor movement and stay in natural environments;
- identify pathology and select and apply an appropriate therapeutic approach within sport‑specific field practice;
- provide client education, including the instruction and practice of self‑therapy techniques.

- Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
- eaching is conducted in a practical format in small groups as part of a summer training course linked to outdoor sports and the principles of experiential learning. Students perform client movement analysis first under professional supervision and subsequently independently. The movement analysis is expanded to include a comprehensive kinesiological assessment and the development of short- and long-term physiotherapy plans. These plans are implemented during the course under the expert supervision of the instructors. At the same time, students acquire selected physiotherapy methodologies, become familiar with key figures in the field, and systematically expand their repertoire of exercises applicable in sports physiotherapy.
- Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
- Practical examination and oral evaluation. Written preparation and successful defence of client case studies. The student must complete all required activities. The minimum requirements are determined by current conditions.
