Course objectives
The course aims to prepare partial parts of the bachelor's thesis. The student will apply the knowledge from the methodology. The course also aims to build on the internship courses that have provided knowledge, experience and data. The thesis seeks to complete the formation of the student's professional profile.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- understand the importance of working with data, its analysis and its use in a profession. More specifically, the preparation of the thesis will provide the student with the opportunity for professional growth in the areas of data collection, analysis, evaluation, and subsequent integration into the profession;
- work with the information, critically evaluate its quality, and synthesize the findings into a cohesive text or preparation of a practical section according to the thesis topic;
- independently organize their work, plan it and evaluate its results.
Syllabus
  • Individual consultation of the student with the supervisor of the bachelor's thesis on the topic chosen by the student in agreement with the supervisor and registered in IS.
  • Determination of the timetable for processing the thesis.
  • Creation of the final thesis concept (determination of the research area, (concept of) the topic of the thesis, formulation of the research problem, (concept of) the research objective(s), possibly also (concept of) research questions and/or hypotheses).
  • Study of literature, work with academic texts, preparation of theoretical support for the practical part in the form of a literature review and the principles of correct citation (including citation software).
  • Determination of the aim of the thesis.
  • Creating the structure of the bachelor thesis.
  • Selection of appropriate methods for the practical part of the thesis.
  • Preparation of the bachelor thesis according to the instructions of the supervisor.

Teaching methods
Teaching within this subject takes place in the form of individual consultations with the supervisor according to a predetermined schedule.
Assessment methods
1. Fulfilling the set preparation schedule and consulting with the thesis supervisor according to a pre-agreed scheme (based on an individual agreement between the supervisor and the student).
2. Preparation of at least the following elements of the thesis is conditional to fulfilling the course requirements:
a) Literature review including demonstration of ability to work with citation standards and citation software;
b) determination of the aim of the thesis;
c) creating the structure of the bachelor thesis;
d) elaboration of the Methods chapter.

At the same time, we recommend enrolling and studying the optional online course v2065 Thesis Writing at FSpS. This course will provide students with support in the methodological part of the thesis and citing academic texts.
