Course objectives
The aim of the course Fundamentals of Management and Business Literacy is to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of the basic principles of management and basic concepts in the field of business. Through a combination of lectures and seminars, students will gain insight into effective management practices, develop critical thinking skills in business, and cultivate a solid foundation of business literacy.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- define management and its role in achieving organizational goals;
- identify and explain the four functions of management: planning, organizing, leading and controlling;
- recognize the importance of effective management in different industries and contexts;
- describe the strategic planning process and its importance in aligning the goals of an organization;
- understand the concept of organizational structure and its impact on communication and effectiveness;
- identify different organizational structures and their advantages and limitations;
- analyze the role of organizational culture in shaping employee behavior and organizational success;
- explain different leadership styles and their application in different situations;
- identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and their importance in measuring success;
- apply techniques for evaluating and improving individual and team performance;
- identify the major challenges associated with effective use of time;
- set personal time goals and develop plans to achieve them;
- understand issues in the business environment of the country;
- define the rights and responsibilities of an entrepreneur;
- analyze ethical dilemmas in the context of business and propose ethical solutions;
- define marketing and its role in creating value for customers;
- conduct basic market research to understand customer needs and preferences;
- explain basic financial concepts such as revenue, expenses and profit;
- understand the basic principles of accounting and financial reporting;
- apply the knowledge acquired in the preparation of a business plan.

Teaching methods
- teaching is conducted in the form of lectures and seminars;
- project-oriented teaching (analysis of case studies);
- practical teaching (worksheets, group work, brainstorming, role play...);

- indirect teaching (self-study of recommended literature, completion of worksheets);
- interactive curriculum.
Assessment methods
Successful completion of all interim required assignments given to students is a prerequisite for admission to the oral examination (evaluated A - F).
