- Course objectives
- The goal of this subject is for students to become familiar with gymnastic exercises, and falling and parkour techniques in terms of fall prevention in children, adults, and older adults. The secondary goal is to show students the possibility of perceiving movement as a therapeutic means.
- Learning outcomes
- A successful participant will be able to:
- perform the right execution of the basic gymnastic exercises (attitudes, movements of the body parts, movements of the whole body, basic locomotion, warm-up, mobilization exercises, stretching, exercising with apparatus, and exercising on apparatus);
- to apply the basic gymnastic exercises as a part of health preventive exercise programs aimed at maintaining and improving physical fitness;
- design an exercise therapy as a part of primary and secondary prevention;
- execute the right technique of the basic combat exercises;
- execute the basic falling techniques;
- apply the basic falling techniques to the prevention exercise programs;
- explain the division of the obstacles, the assessment, and the safe obstacle overcoming in the target groups;
- execute the basic parkour. - Syllabus
- Gymnastics
- 1. Basic attitudes and movements of the body.
- 2. Types of warm-ups.
- 3. Warm-up rehearsal.
- 4. Joint mobilization exercises.
- 5. Stretching - types, characteristics, application.
- 6. Strength exercises.
- 7. Exercises with apparatus (short bars, overballs).
- 8. Exercises with apparatus (ropes, gym balls).
- 9. Exercises with apparatus (plastic bottles, Theraband).
- 10. Exercises with apparatus (benches, gymnastic wall bars, vaulting box).
- 11. Gymnastic exercises in health preventive exercise programs aimed at maintaining and improving physical fitness;

- Movement therapy
- 1. Introduction to movement and dance therapy - different approaches. Understanding movement as a therapeutic tool.
- 2. Development of the emotional, social and mental side of the personality by means of movement activities in different groups of the population.
- 3. Working with emotions and social relationships within the training process as a means of therapy.
- 4. Use of music during movement activities, training, relaxation and a deeper perception of the body.
- 5. Psychomotor therapy.
- 6. Body perception, proprioception, perception of tension and relaxation as the basis of the technique of controlling one's own body and breaking down psychological barriers in self-expression.
- 7. Breath as part of movement and work with it.
- 8. Basic movement stereotypes - walking, climbing - orientation in space.
- 9. Non-verbal communication, tactile contact with a partner in different positions.
- 10. Expanding the movement vocabulary, intuitive work in a group - coordinated and rhythmic movement in space, copying the selected method of movement.
- 11. Rhythmicization of movement.
- 12. Changing roles and getting to know the space, trusting the space and own movement.
- Fall prevention, parkour
- 1. Falls (principles of falls, psychology, tactics and biomechanics of falls).
- 2. Forward fall with a flip without stopping, backward fall with a flip without a stop, forward fall without a flip without a stop.
- 3. Fall forward with a rollover with a stop, fall to the side with a stop, fall backwards with a stop.
- 4. Basic field training - (stretches, overpressures, resistances).
- 5. Types of obstacles.
- 6. Mobilization and specific preparation for parkour.
- 7. Movement in the environment (different surfaces – softness, slipperiness; use of the environment to achieve the goal).
- 8. Accuracy of movement.
- 9. Overcoming obstacles (crate, railing, wall).
- 10. Movement on the ground, to and from different positions and transitions between them.
- 11. Basic parkour fall techniques.
- 12. Application of overcoming obstacles to real situations.
