- Course objectives
- The goal of the internship is to provide the student with professional practical experience in physical activities to prevent civilisational diseases. The internship should enable the student to apply theoretical knowledge in a natural working environment, develop his skills and abilities and acquire practical know-how in the given field.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- identify and understand the specific needs associated with working with children, youth and risk groups;
- use basic psychological principles and skills in communication and interaction with children and youth;
- recognise and evaluate preventable risk factors for children, youth and at-risk persons; propose a strategy for the prevention of these risk factors and conduct exercise interventions;
- to cooperate with the family, legal representatives and community centres for the support of children and youth;
- comply with legal and ethical aspects associated with working with children and youth;
- use supervision and reflection for personal and professional development in the area of work with children, youth and risk groups;
- design and implement a project with children, youth or a risk group of people. - Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to practice - requirements to fulfil the course, list of Providers, Practice Agenda at IS MU, Distribution of topics for Health Day.
- 2. Cooperation with the practice provider institution - approaching, establishing cooperation, and participating in exercise activities for two weeks. Practice occurs in institutions focused on the physical activity of children and youth (DDM, SVČ, primary and secondary schools).
- 2. Getting to know the institution's operation and the composition of employees and clients. Insight into administration and documentation management. Familiarisation with work safety and the necessary training according to the workplace.
- 3. Preview/listening practice in the selected institution - cooperation with the accompanying supervisor.
- 4. Cooperation with the accompanying trainer - joint diagnostics, client management and feedback.
- 5. Individual work with the client(s) - initial diagnosis and determination of intervention goals, communication and client motivation.
- 6. Individual work with client(s) - planning and implementation of interventions.
- 7. Individual work with the client(s) - client feedback, trainer feedback, practice evaluation. 8. Organization an event focused on health education, the so-called Health Day, which will inform and motivate the general public to a healthy lifestyle, provide them with practical tools for diagnosing health fitness and risk factors for the emergence of chronic civilisation diseases, setting up and maintaining a healthy lifestyle style.

- - Preparation for practice - discussion with students - requirements and content of practice, list of cooperating workplaces;
- Individual cooperation with the selected workplace - approaching, establishing cooperation, participating in consultation meetings with the client;
- Student's independent work;

- Evaluation of practice - presentation of output and case studies from practice followed by open discussion and peer evaluation. - Assessment methods
- - 100% participation in Practice Preparation and Practice Evaluation;
- Individual cooperation with the institution for two weeks - mandatory 100% attendance at practice;
- Active participation in Health Day;
- Submitting the Confirmation of Completion of Internship and Consent to Placing the Student on Internship to the Internship Agenda at IS MU;
- Final presentation and defence of the output and case studies from practice - evaluation by the trainer, peer evaluation with open discussion.
The student submits all outputs and case reports from the practice to the Practice Agenda in IS MU; at the same time, these documents are part of the Portfolio with which the student will proceed to the State Final Examination.- 100% participation in lectures and organisational meetings - Language of instruction
