- Abstract
- The course builds on Kinesiology, Diagnosis and Therapy 5 and further focuses on integrating previous knowledge into the context of motor ontogeny and global movement patterns. The primary goal of the course is to introduce students to developmental kinesiology and its use in the diagnosis and therapy of children and adults. A sub-goal is the practical application of this knowledge within individual and group kinesiotherapy.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- understand and describe the different stages and principles of developmental kinesiology;
- understand and describe the application of these principles in the context of diagnosis of children and adults;
- apply these principles within the therapy of children and adults;
- conduct patient education, including practicing self-therapy; - Key topics
- Lectures:
- 01. Psychomotor evolution and global motor patterns of a newborn.
- 02. Psychomotor evolution and global motor patterns of the 6th week of postnatal evolution.

- Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
- Students will be exposed to the subject in a form of a lecture that will be followed by practical seminar. These seminars focus on techniques of examination and therapy. Students are organized in small groups. Each particular technique is first demonstrated by experienced tutors. Practical training is on peer to peer basis under close supervision of tutors and correction of precise technique.
- Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
- 100% presence at practical seminars, presentation of case studies from previous winter practice, group work in seminars. The end of the course has a 2 parts: theory oral exam from lectures and a practical exam on skills from seminars. The final grade will be the average of these 2. completions.
