- Course objectives
- It is said that sports naturally serves as a mediator for education, leadership, morality and fair-play. But the fact is, that these values are not automatically involved in sport. The conclusion sport=morality is off no validity anymore.
The main objectives of the course are the following:
- to understand the modern ethics and its interpretation ways that are possible to relate to sport
- to understand changes of ethics from antiquity to modern age (from Plató to Olympic Charter and Antidoping Code);
- acquire knowledge mainstream science dealing with moral issues in sports - Syllabus
- Sports ethics and ethics in sport.
- Ethical discourses.
- Brief history of ethics. Kant, Hume.
- Psychologization in ethics. Kohlberg, Piaget, Gilligan.
- Evolution of Cooperation, Game Theory. Axelrod, Dawkins.
- Practical ethics and rehabilitation of epicureism. Singer, Diogenes.
- Evolution-biological foundation of ethics. Biological reductionism. Selfishness, sexuality, aggression.
- Doping. . Modern hygienism.
- Modern deontological ethics. Aid of Body.
- New virtues: ekologism, feminism, right of animals.
- Existentialist ethics. Relationship athlete/coach.
