Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to explain basic concepts in human nutrition. Students of this course aquire basic understanding of the relationship between nutrition and exercise.
Learning outcomes
After passing the subject student will be able to:
- to distinguish the importance of macro-nutrients, micronutrients and water in human nutrition;
- to orientate and correctly interpret basic nutritional recommendations for the general population;
- to orientate and correctly interpret basic nutritional recommendations for athletes in support of regeneration, adaptation and sports performance;
- assess the athlete's energy balance and recommend optimal energy intake with regard to the rate of sport load;
- Identify the underlying risks of an athlete's inadequate nutrition;
- to focus on nutritional supplements.
