Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the issues of aging from a biological, psychological and sociological point of view. Emphasis will be placed on the primary prevention of all involution processes in aging and possible physical interventions in terms of improving the quality of life (physical, psychological, social). Successful graduates should acquire professional knowledge from the field of diagnostics and optimization of movement load, on the basis of which they will be able to prepare and implement appropriate training programs for different groups of seniors.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
1. Explain the concept of aging in terms of biological, psychological and social;
2. to clarify important signs of aging and aging process;
3.Resolve involution processes in the aging period;
4. Suggest appropriate diagnostic methods (quality of life, functional fitness, psychosocial factors);
5. optimize the movement burden, prepare and implement an appropriate intervention program for different groups of seniors in terms of developing the necessary indicators;
6. Evaluate the effectiveness of locomotor intervention, draw conclusions for science and research.
Syllabus
  • Social and demographic view of age issues.
  • Age and aging process from a biological, physical, mental and social point of view.
  • Analysis of involution processes in the aging period.
  • Appropriate selection and application of diagnostic methods in assessing the level of monitored quality of life indicators of seniors, their functional ability and psychosocial factors.
  • Didactic principles and principles in the development of interventional motion programs taking into account the age and level of involution processes, interest.
  • Indoor movement activities and their indications and contraindications.
  • Outdoor motion activities and their indications and contraindications.
  • Methods of processing the data obtained and drawing the necessary conclusions for the field of science and research.
  • Method of evaluating the effectiveness of the intervention.
