Course objectives

The aim of the course is to describe and further analyse individual aspects of post-war history of Germany. The first half of the sessions will deal with the role of Germany in the process of European integration. This will be shown primarily by analysing the policies of the German chancellors. The second part of the semester will show the influence of the EU on the actors of the German political system, i.e. a different perspective of the German-European relationship.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course students should be able to:
have deeper understanding of the role of Germany in the European integration
have deeper understanding of the impacts of the process of European integration on the key domestic actors in Germany;
basically operate with the theoretical concept of Europeanization;
explain the changes of selected political actors;
interpret the changes of relations between Germany and EU
