Course objectives
A practically oriented course where you will experience the principles of applied anthropology. In the first half of the course you will learn about the types of structural violence according to the target group against whom the violence is perpetrated, in the second half of the course you will independently research and analyze and in the final two hours we will present together the results of your research. The course works with experimental methods of learning. In class we will work with worksheets with principles of innovative and non-mainstream pedagogies. Reading is partially replaced by films, podcasts and newspaper articles. The aim of the course is to gain the ability to look critically at current social issues and to learn to respond to them using anthropological knowledge.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, you will be able to propose solutions or synergies to current social problems from the position of social anthropology and be able to propose strategies to overcome structural violence against selected groups. You will experience what it is like to be a engaged anthropologist participating in social change and overcoming structural violence.
