Course objectives
The subject will focus on the genesis of the resistance movements in the countries occupied by Nazi Germany in 1939-1945. The course will deal both with the structure, development, aims and progress of the resistance activities in the countries, and the political aspects of these activities and the reaction of the Nazi security administration. The students will get a detailed review of the anti-Nazi activities in Europe during the World War II. They will also visit the memorial in Kaunitz Students' Hall in Brno (the former Gestapo police jail where 35,000 prisoners from all Europe were imprisoned during the occupation; the memorial houses a lot of unique exhibits) and they will meet the witnesses who were imprisoned there.
