Course objectives
Slovak Republic is relatively young state, but now it is obvious, that it succeeded in building stabile position in international environment. This course is based not only on following past development and recent state of Slovak foreign policy, but the main goal is especially to identify the background of its formation and realization. Course will focus on (dependent variables and determinants, instruments and important institutions, relevant political parties, and so on. Second part of the course will deal with multilateral aspect of Slovak foreign policy (membership in most important international organization). Bilateral dimension will be subject of students’ own active participation.
After the course, student should be able to understand and independently analyze the process of formation and realization of foreign policy of the Slovak Republic, describe and explaine the position of key institutions and relationst among them.

lectures, guest lectures, class discussion, monitoring of recent developement in the area, individual analysis of assigned problem
Assessment methods
It will be possible to receive 100 point during the course in total (20 for active participation on the seminars, 30 for obligatory paper presentation and 50 for final examination). For successful course completion it is required to obtain at least 60 points in total (and particularly at least 25 points for the exam and at least 15 points for the paper presentation).
The topic of student’s papers will be bilateral relations of the Slovak Republic with some other country. Papers will be presented on one of two seminars reserved for this purpose.
