Interest in filming and processing of video, at least basic knowledge of both. The ability to present a topic in a cultivated manner.

Course objectives
To learn how to conduct an interview in audiovisual media, especially live, to work with research, with guests, to perceive the differences between different types of respondents and topics.
Learning outcomes
Students will practice conducting different types of interviews with different types of respondents. They will learn to prepare well for these interviews, work with their own psyche and respond to the respondents. They will also learn the basic differences between an audiovisual interview and a podcast.

  • 1.THE INTERVIEW AND PREPARATION FOR IT
  • - types of interviews (expert interview, interview with a politician, investigative interview, etc.), length, recording vs. live
  • - INTERVIEWERSHIPS, searching for the respondent
  • 2. INTERVIEWERSHIPS AND SYNCHRON
  • - Analyzing research, how to grasp properly
  • - rules, tips, and shooting synchron - using research in interview
  • 3. ANCHOR
  • - personality of the moderator, general overview
  • - what he can do, what he can't do, what he must do, how to look, how to talk, body language
  • - working with different types of guests
  • - improvisation techniques
  • 4. LIVE INTERVIEW
  • - pitfalls of interviewing live, studio vs. outdoors, preparation vs. no preparation, continuous broadcasting - the hardest discipline
  • 5. PODCAST
  • - the difference between a TV interview and a podcast
  • - how to talk, what to put in a podcast besides the interview itself
  • - main message, flow of the interview

Lectures, seminars, discussions, analysis of samples, practical work with audiovisual material. Simulated practical learning by doing. Creating a media product. Project oriented learning. Developing teamwork.
Assessment methods
Credits will be given to those students, who actively participate in the class and finish the creative work.
