- Abstract
- The course develops language skills, especially reading comprehension and writing. The students are expected to reach the language competence of B1 level applied to specific and academic language.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course students will be able to understand simple texts on specific topics, deduce the meanings of unknown words from a context and define key legal terms. Students will further solve real situations that a foreigner living in the Czech Republic might encounter from the perspective of their profession.

- 1. Basic legal terms - what is law, introduction to legal English 2. Sources of law - common law systems, continental systems 3. Civil and public law - differences between private and public law and their main categories 4. Criminal law - structure and process of criminal proceedings 5. Public administration - role and functions of public administration 6. Lawyers at work - CV, job interview 7. Helping Foreigners section - 10 activities on real situations that a foreigner living in the Czech Republic might encounter

- Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
- The course is taught based on an e-learning program with an introductory seminar.
- Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
- Students will complete and submit e-learning lessons (ROPOTs)) during the course. The course is ended by a colloquium in the form of a test - 30 multiple-choice questions. Students have to score at least 70%.
- Alternate completion
- The course is taught based on an e-learning program and can be completed from abroad. Upon return from the trip, it is possible to take the final test.
