Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to:
clarify the similarities and differences between the approaches within the study of International Business Law and European Law;
explain the reaching of an agreement;
list the stages of preliminary negotiations;
explain the difference between breach of contract and tort;
understand and apply the provisions of the EEX Regulation (Brussels I);
understand and apply the provisions of the ECO – Regulation (Rome I);
reproduce the most important characteristics of the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and apply it;
explain the contract of carriage;
explain and apply Incoterms and international payments
Syllabus
  • Lecture 1 Topic: International Private Law and European Law: an introduction Study hours: 90 minutes lecture and three hours self-study Instruction: In preparation for the lecture, read Chapter 1 from the book A Basic Guide to International Business Law. Prepare exercise 1
  • Lecture 2 Topic: Reaching an agreement Contracts and the preliminary stage Study hours: 90 minutes lecture and three hours self-study Instruction: In preparation for the lecture, read Chapter 2 from the book A Basic Guide to International Business Law. Prepare exercise 1 and 2
