Course objectives
The course provides overview of legal framework of principal issues of health care in the Czech Republic compared with legal framework abroad, especially in Europe and America and impact of international and supranational standards. The course is intented for students of master degree program "law". It can be understood also by other students. It can be especially recommended for students of medicine and other health care professionals.
Learning outcomes
Student should be capable:
- distinguish differences of ethics and its overlaps with laws,
- identify and find relevant statutes,
- understand medicine as phenomenon subject to regulation,
- explain relation between patients and providers,
- perceive features of financing of healthcare,
- enforce liability regimes in healthcare.

  • (1) intro, law and ethics, social sciences, medical/healthcare law,
  • (2) organisation of health care, medical business and employment,
  • (3) informed consent, treatment as contract,
  • (4) financing of health care,
  • (5) liability in health care,
  • (6) colloque - discussion of analyses written by students,
