Course objectives
The aim of this course is to give an overview of the challenges that the internet and the online environment pose to private international law (PIL) in general and intellectual property rights (IP) in particular.
Learning outcomes
After completing this course, the student should be able to: - to orientate on issues of international private law on the Internet - to resolve contractual obligations arising on the Internet from the point of view of applicable law and jurisdiction - to resolve non-contractual obligations arising on the Internet from the point of view of applicable law and jurisdiction - to solve legal situations related to intellectual property rights on the Internet from the point of view of applicable law and jurisdiction - to orientate on the issue of protection of personal rights on the Internet, geolocation

  • Theories of Internet Regulation; Private International Law and Online Reality (connecting factors; territoriality vs. "borderlessness; the principle of territoriality) Electronic Commerce; Online Consumer Contracts, Online Business Contracts Online Torts; Online Defamation Private International Law and Intellectual Property Rights International License Agreements Online Dispute Resolutions and Online Arbitration Data and Private International Law Geolocation and law
Teaching methods
Teaching will be carried out using the frontal teaching method with the personal participation of the student in the faculty building, where optional lectures and compulsory seminars will take place, including the definition of issues and systematics, key terms and institutes, and the completion of the subject.
Assessment methods
The evaluation will be done continuously according to the entry in the electronic curriculum in IS MUNI processed individually by the student. It is evaluated by the teacher for each phase, and the student receives both feedback on his performance and an idea of the evaluation at the end of the semester.
