Course objectives
The subject is of practical nature, consolidates the theoretical information gained in the lectures, emphasizes the practical solution of acute psychiatric conditions, communication and teamwork.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- recognize the symptoms of psychiatric disorders in patients who are most frequently in contact with the emergency medical services
- perceive the patient's difficulties holistically on a psychological and somatic level
- to respond early and decide on the appropriate emergency medical treatment when specific psychiatric symptoms are identified
- solve cases using the model situations presented
- communicate and work appropriately within a team
Syllabus
  • Individual cases will be solved on the model situations presented:
  • Nursing process in a patient with acute restlessness
  • Psychological first aid in patients with panic anxiety, hyperventilation
  • Nursing process and approach to a patient with cognitive deficit and confusion
  • Nursing process and recommended follow-up care for the patient with psychotic symptoms
  • Teamwork
