Course objectives
At the end of the course students are able to understand main pharmacological mechanisms of drug actions and their combinations leading to therapeutic, adverse and toxic effects of drugs.

Syllabus
  • LECTURE 1: Definition of pharmacology and basic terminology. Drug classification. Mechanisms of drug effects. Basic pharmacokinetics.
  • LECTURE 2: Factors responsible for variation in drug response. Adverse drug reactions. Drug interactions. Research and development of drugs.

Teaching methods
The curriculum enables attendance at lectures lead by teachers of pharmacology.
Assessment methods
During the studying the students have to prove active knowledge of pharmacology acquired. The students have to pass colloquium on topics studied during the semester: final written multiple-choice test. In the test students are asked to answer multiple-choice questions. Only 1 correct answer is possible for each question. The test contains 20 questions. One point is granted for each correctly answered question. To pass the test student needs at least 60% out of the maximum score.
