- Course objectives
- 1. Students will acquire knowledge of digestive tract anatomy above level provided by the subject Basics of anatomy 2. Information on morphology of the digestive tract will be linked to basic information on the physiology and pathology of its organs. 3. Students will learn the basic concepts of the structure and activity of digestive organs with which they will then work in other theoretical and clinical subjects.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to explain relations between structure (macroscopic and microscopic) and function of individual gastrointestinal organs on the end of the course. He will be able to combine knowledges from the normal status and most common pathological states.
- Syllabus
- Composition (from macroscopic to microscopic or submicroscopic level of anatomy), function and most frequent diseases of gastrointestinal tract (oriented on non infectious diseases), basic epidemiology - mainly regarding the nutrition and life style, etiology and preventability. Partial topics : Mouth cavity, chewing and mimic muscules, jaws and teeth (caries and parodontopathy). Pharynx and oesophagus. Stomach (gastric ulcer, gastric tumors). Small intestine. Colon and rectum (most frequent diseases causing disturbances of intestinal passage and resorption, colorectal carcinoma). Liver (hepatitis, liver carcinoma). Pancreas (acute pancreatitis, pancreatic carcinoma). Mesentery, omentum, peritoneal cavity (relations between structures in wall of peritoneal cavity and hernias).
