Course objectives
First Aid is a theoretical-practical subject providing knowledge and skills for the provision of pre-medical first aid. The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge of the principles of first aid in sudden health disorders, including injuries and accidents. Students will learn the procedures and principles of various health-damaging conditions. They will acquire skills in practical training of emergency resuscitation within the valid Guidelines (ERC recommendations from 2021).
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
decide on the correct first aid procedure according to established recommendations and guidelines
to be able to define the basic algorithms in the first aid definition theoretically and to demonstrate practically
describe the processes leading to the rescue of human life in various model situations.
Syllabus
  • The importance of PP, distribution of PPs, PP principles, legal responsibility, rescue chain, orientation assessment of the affected person, assessment of consciousness.
  • Extermination, transport of the wounded, basic treatment positions.
  • Types of wounds, separation criteria, treatment.
  • Types of dressings, distribution criteria, dressing principles, contents of the first aid kit, basics of dressing techniques.
  • Unconsciousness, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, devices to ensure the passage of free airways, end of resuscitation criteria, signs of death.
  • Bleeding, types, treatment techniques.
  • Shock, division, rule 5 T.
  • Heat damage total, local, burn, inhalation trauma.
  • Damage to the overall cold, local.
  • Acid, lye.
  • Injury of joints, bones, tendons, diagnostics, treatment.
  • Injury of chest, abdomen, spine.
  • Head, face, eye, nose, ear, pharynx injuries.
  • Surprising birth.
  • Polytrauma, tingling, intoxication.
  • PP has developed the conditions - AIM, ictus, NPB, convulsive states, DM, asthma.
  • Case studies on the topics discussed.
  • Excursion at the exit base Medical rescue services of the South Moravian Region.
