Course objectives
The course is part of a complex of compulsory subjects from clinical disciplines, it builds on knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, epidemiology, pharmacology, first aid and pediatrics. It is designed as a theoretical-practical, teaching takes place in a professional classroom. The course is a follow-up to Nursing care in paediatrics - exercises, taught in the previous semester. Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to gain an overview of autism spectrum disorders, child speech development and specific disorders of speech, learning and behavior. To master communication and specific approaches in healthy and impaired children. Another aim is to gain an overview of disabilities in children, physical, mental and sensory. Further gain awareness of inclusion and bullying in children.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
Define autism spectrum disorders and their symptoms.
List the principles of communication and the specific approach to a child with an autism spectrum disorder.
To characterize the development of speech in a child.
Define specific disorders of speech, learning and behavior including their manifestations.
List the principles of communication and specific approach to a child with speech, learning or behavioral disorder.
Define physical, mental and sensory disabilities in children and understand their causes, manifestations and symptoms.
Understand the concepts of inclusion and bullying.
