Course objectives
The course Theory and Methodology of Education is included in the curriculum with the aim of acquiring educational competences for work in school and after-school environment. It mediates experience with methods of personality development (voluntary, moral, aesthetic, social, etc.) and is focused on familiarization with a set of specific educational concepts (theories), whose knowledge is part of the broader professional competences of the teacher.
Learning outcomes
Describe practical areas of education on specific examples and link them to selected and appropriate theories with practical examples.
. Describe the educational influence in the work of the teacher, define the relationship of education, discipline, authority and power.
. Suggest procedures for working with authority and discipline in education. Define the educational influence of the class teacher, describe the cooperation of the class teacher with other actors of the educational process (especially with the parents of pupils).
. Describe and elaborate on the examples the essence of social and personal development.
. Suggest activities and activities how to work with the theme of values in the process of education.
. Orientate in new innovative educational approaches, also based on the introduction of selected concepts of education in the field of alternative schools and concepts.
Syllabus
  • 1) Education: definition and conception of education, education in teacher work, education in curriculum (especially in cross-curricular topics and key competencies).
  • . 2) Theory and methodology of education: definition of theory and methodology, global education in relation to cross-curricular topics, example of global education methodology.
  • . 3) Teacher authority, types of teacher authority, authority sources, authority and power in the classroom, teacher power.
  • . 4) Educational activities in the classroom. Teacher competencies.
  • . 5) School discipline, discipline definition, proactive and reactive classroom management, classroom rules and work with them, examples of discipline and non-cooperation (resistance) of pupils and ways of solving them. Relationship of family and school.
  • . 6) Aggression and bullying in the classroom, cyberbullying. Defining bullying, bullying phase, dealing with bullying as a teacher and in cooperation with counseling centers.
