Course objectives
Application of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the clinical departments of University Hospital Brno.
Learning outcomes
Provision of individual physiotherapy as requested care under the supervision of physiotherapists from the Rehabilitation Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, and University Hospital Brno.
Teaching methods
The practical training takes place in the summer semester (5 teaching hours per week, 14 weeks per semester, 70 hours in total) at the clinical departments of University Hospital Brno.
The practice is supervised by assistants—physiotherapists from the clinic.
Students work under the direct supervision of physiotherapists who meet the requirements for specialized competence to perform the healthcare profession of physiotherapist without direct professional supervision.
Before the start of the placement, students are acquainted with the operational regulations of each department.
During clinical practice, safety, hygiene, ethical and legal regulations, as well as the internal policies of University Hospital Brno, are strictly observed.
The practical training is organized in rotating groups, allowing students to spend time 2–3 times at each of the selected specialized departments of University Hospital Brno.
Assessment methods
Conditions for granting the credit:

One absence per semester can be compensated.

A case study selected by the student from one department, with a justification of why the student chose this case study.

The evaluation should answer the following questions:
What did you like about the practice?

Organization of Practical Training:
It is absolutely essential to start practical training on time — see the schedule table for practice assignments!
Any sudden absence must be reported no later than 15 minutes before the start of practice by phone to the practice supervisor, as listed in the practice schedule table.
In case of signs of acute illness, participation in practical training is strictly prohibited.
Required attire for practice:
White trousers, white lab coat, white shirt or long white T-shirt, white socks and white footwear, student ID card, writing utensils, and a notebook for notes.
Recommendations for students:
Before clinical practice, review your practical experience and knowledge of the professional subjects from the bachelor’s degree program.
Please follow the syllabi (minimum requirements) prepared by the Clinical Practice I instructors during this review.
These requirements express the obligation to know and be able to practically apply patient examination and the listed physiotherapy basics, which serve as a foundation for instructors to build upon during consultations and teaching.
If a student is not sufficiently prepared, the instructor may exercise their authority to exclude the student from the practice.
