General Physiotherapy I.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
Course objectives
The course builds on General Physiotherapy I and further focuses on the kinesiology of the thorax, abdomen, and pelvis, including the proximal (root) joints.
It also introduces basic aspects of viscerosomatic and somatovisceral relationships.
The aim is to master the kinesiology of the trunk and proximal joints, including advanced diagnostic and physiotherapeutic techniques.
The course is based on developmental motor principles and addresses global movement patterns up to the 7th month of physiological development.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will understand the principles of diagnosis and therapy as outlined in the course syllabus and will be able to apply the respective techniques in physiotherapy practice to the same extent.
Syllabus
  • Lectures:
  • The autonomic nervous system and the regulation of internal organ function.
  • Kinesiology of the trunk – functional significance, passive and active stability of individual movement segments, including global postural mechanisms and dynamic movement patterns; functional and structural pathologies of specific regions, including basic viscerosomatic and somatovisceral relationships.
  • Application of the above to the thorax and thoracic spine, abdomen and lumbar spine, sacral spine and pelvic floor, and proximal joints of the limbs.
  • Practical Exercises: Advanced diagnostics and therapy of the musculoskeletal system in the regions of the thorax and thoracic spine, abdomen and lumbar spine, sacral spine and pelvic floor, and proximal joints of the limbs. The content includes developmental movement patterns up to the 7th month of infancy.
  • Within the framework of segmental reflexology, practical training is extended to include basic diagnostics and physiotherapy of internal organs.

Teaching methods
Students will be introduced to the subject matter through lectures and will then practice patient examination and manual therapy techniques on each other in accordance with the course syllabus.
The practical component is conducted in small groups through direct, hands-on instruction.
Students first receive a theoretical introduction, followed by a proper demonstration of the technique, and then proceed to practice it themselves.
During the practice, students are supervised by the instructor, who provides feedback and corrects any errors to ensure proper execution.
Assessment methods
100% attendance in classes, one graded presentation on an assigned topic, two written tests, three practical assessments during the semester, a final written test, and a practical examination at the end of the semester.
